										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong><span style="color: #3197f9;">The words we speak have great power in our lives &#8211; especially the words that follow &#8220;I am&#8230;&#8221;. </span></strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #3197f9;">Since everything is energy, we have to understand that the spoken word sends vibration (vibes) into our personal space (our energy field) and to the world around us. </span></strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #3197f9;">Just as the thoughts we think have power, voicing them into physical vibration make them even stronger.</span></strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #3197f9;">Be careful what you think and even more careful about what you say&#8230;there&#8217;s more to it than we know.</span></strong></p>

<p>When we speak or write, we use the vehicles of words to carry meaning, as well as energy, from ourselves to another person or group of people. We may be speaking to our baby, our boss, or to an audience of 500 people. We may be writing a love letter, a work-related memo, or an entry in our own diary. Whatever the case,<strong><span style="color: #30cb2d;"> each word we speak or write has a life of its own, a vibratory signature that creates waves in the same way that a note of music creates waves. And like musical notes, our words live in communities of other words and change in relation to the words that surround them. When we are conscious of the energy behind our words, we become capable of making beautiful music in the world. If we are unconscious of the power of words, we run the risk of creating a noisy disturbance. </span></strong></p>
<p>Some of us know this instinctively, while others come to this understanding slowly. Most of us, though, speak without thinking at least some of the time, blurting out our feelings and thoughts without much regard for the words we choose to express them. <strong><span style="color: #30cb2d;">When we remind ourselves that our words have an impact on the world at the level of energy, we may find within ourselves the desire to be more aware of our use of language. </span></strong></p>
<p>A fun way to increase our sensitivity to the power of words is to simply make a list of our favorite words and notice the energy they contain. We can write them down and post them where we can see them, or we can speak them aloud, feeling them reverberate in our bodies and in the air around us. <strong><span style="color: #30cb2d;">This is like learning to consciously play an instrument that we have been playing unconsciously for most of our lives, and the effect can be startling and delightful. As we grow more comfortable and confident playing the instrument of language, we will begin to compose beautiful messages, creating positive energy every time we write or speak. </span></strong></p>

<p>Chronic inflammation is a hallmark of virtually all disease, including cancer, obesity and heart disease. While inflammation is a perfectly normal and beneficial process that occurs when your body&#8217;s white blood cells and chemicals protect you from foreign invaders like bacteria and viruses, it leads to trouble when the inflammatory response gets out of hand and continues indefinitely.</p>
<p>Your diet plays a significant if not primary role in this chain of events and is the perfect place to start to address it. Certain nutritional supplements can also be helpful as add-ons.</p>
<p>Below, I’ll review some of the foods, spices and supplements known for their anti-inflammatory power (and the foods known for their inflammatory effects). If you struggle with any chronic health condition, chances are you have inflammation in your body, and would be wise to take a cold hard look at what you’re putting into it.</p>
<p>A key part of an anti-inflammatory diet involves excluding refined vegetable oils, as they are clearly one of the most pernicious and pervasive poisons in the food supply. Simply avoiding all processed foods and most restaurant foods will go a long way toward helping you avoid them.</p>
<p>As for anti-inflammatory foods to eat more of, vegetables are a key staple. Dark leafy greens such as kale, collard greens and Swiss chard contain powerful antioxidants, flavonoids, carotenoids and vitamin C that can help protect against cellular damage. Ideally, opt for organic locally grown veggies that are in season, and consider eating a fair amount of them raw.</p>
<p>Juicing is an excellent way to get more greens into your diet. There’s a caveat, though. If you struggle with autoimmune disease or have significant inflammation in your body, consider limiting vegetables with high lectin content, as the lectins may pose a problem.</p>
<p>Among the most problematic lectin-containing foods are beans, grains, legumes and members of the nightshade family like eggplants, potatoes and peppers. High-lectin foods can be made safer to eat through proper soaking and cooking, as well as fermenting and sprouting. Using a pressure cooker is particularly beneficial for beans. <p>Oxalates are another plant component that can cause problems, as they not only will increase inflammation but will worsen your mitochondrial function. Those prone to oxalate kidney stones typically need to be on an oxalate-free diet as well. Foods high in oxalates include potatoes (white and sweet), almonds, seeds, dark chocolate, beets, beans and many others.</p>
<p>On the other hand, raw berries — especially blueberries — are an anti-inflammatory basic, as most tend to be low in fructose while rating high in antioxidant capacity compared to other fruits and vegetables.</p>
<p>The same goes for mushrooms, which are commonly overlooked. Shiitake mushrooms, for example, contain ergothioniene, which inhibits oxidative stress. Mushrooms also contain a number of unique nutrients that you may not get enough of in your diet.</p>
<p>One of those nutrients is copper, which is one of the few metallic elements accompanied by amino and fatty acids that are essential to human health. Since your body can&#8217;t synthesize copper, your diet must supply it regularly. Copper deficiency can be a factor in the development of coronary heart disease.</p>
<p>Another excellent anti-inflammatory mushroom is the Reishi, which contains ganoderic acid, a terpene that induces apoptosis (programmed cell death of damaged cells) and enhances the immune system.</p>

<p>Keep in mind there were no real effective governmental agencies in place monitoring the state of affairs within the medical community, so what Flexner did at the behest of the robber barons, he did so in favor of profits rather than the long-term care of patients.</p>
<p>You can’t patent a plant or an essential oil, but you can patent a lab-created molecule that strongly resembles that of the plants. If profits are what you’re after and it all seems rather harmless, why not make some money while you’re making people well.</p>
<p>But here’s one problem with that. Drugs, on the whole (there certainly are exceptions), don’t really make people well. Pharmaceutical success is not based on the effectiveness of the drug. It’s based on the amount of profit it can generate. That’s what “blockbuster” in “blockbuster drug” means.</p>
<p>Drugs do a masterful job of making us feel well, and often pretty quickly. But only temporarily, because drugs are created to treat symptoms and only rarely treat the actual cause. Plus, drugs create their own symptoms, sometimes requiring additional drugs to offset their ill effects. We live in a quick-fix culture where we crave immediate gratification. We certainly have more drive-thru restaurants than we have home gardens.</p>
<h3><span id="Five-Things-to-Know-About-the-Flexner-Report">Five Things to Know About the Flexner Report</span></h3>
<p><strong>1.</strong> Abraham Flexner was <strong>not a doctor, but a school teacher and educational theorist</strong>from Louisville, Kentucky. In 1910 he published the <em>Medical Education in the United States and Canada</em>, known as the Flexner Report, which elevated the importance of German educational methods in the teaching of medicine.</p>
<p><strong>2.</strong> There is a connection between the robber barons and medicine. John Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, and others saw this as a <strong>progression of peddling pharmaceuticals</strong>, which began as byproducts of oil refinement.</p>
<p><strong>3.</strong> There were no real effective governmental agencies in place monitoring the state of affairs within the medical community, so what Flexner did at the behest of the robber barons, he did so in favor of profits rather than the long-term care of patients. <p><strong><span style="color: #3197f9;">It often talks to you in the language it knows best &#8211; <em>feelings</em>&#8230;.sometimes known as </span><em><span style="color: #3197f9;">symptoms</span></em><span style="color: #3197f9;">.</span></strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #3197f9;">These feelings can range from an emotional challenge (e.g. anxiety) to physical pain (e.g. headache, backache&#8230;). </span></strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #3197f9;">When you do things that deny or mask these symptoms, you push the issue further down&#8230;only to resurface again in the future.</span></strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #3197f9;">It is much more effective to get quiet, listen to what your body is trying to tell you, and act on that sooner rather than later. </span></strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #3197f9;">As I tell clients in my practice, you have to feel it to heal it&#8230;we must release the root cause of the issue before true healing can begin!</span></strong></p>

<p><span style="background-color: #ffff99;">When our body, mind, and spirit are in balance, we experience good health</span>. But sometimes we get caught up in life&#8217;s parade of change and movement, and things get out of balance. Just as there are seasons in nature, our bodies go through times of cleansing and times of activity. Illness is one way our bodies restore the balance they seek, as it cleanses the buildup of unwanted manifestations of negative energy in our system. <span style="background-color: #ffff99;">When we are not feeling our best, we can go beyond addressing the physical symptoms to listen to our bodies as they tell us the changes needed to restore balance. </span></p>
<p><span style="background-color: #ffff99;">Our bodies give us signals, but if we don&#8217;t listen when they tell us that they are tired or stressed, then the imbalance increases and a stronger message is required, one that is generally expressed by illness or dis-ease. The first step to regaining equilibrium involves slowing down, eating healthy food, getting more rest, and taking soothing remedies. Once we have nurtured ourselves with these things, we can begin to examine our illness for the message</span>. A heavy head may be a sign that we have been thinking negatively, harboring anger, resentment, or guilt. A sore throat may be telling us that we have been speaking without integrity&#8211;gossip, insults, twisting the truth, or even speaking ill of ourselves&#8211;which can knock us off balance. A sore throat and swollen glands can also mean you are cleansing and processing some powerful emotions at present. Stomach problems could mean that we are having trouble accepting or &#8220;digesting&#8221; something. Only you have the knowledge of your thoughts and choices that will allow you to decipher the messages from your body. All it takes is time and attention.</p>
<p>When we take the time to listen to our bodies, we can learn how to restore our balance and improve our lives. By honoring the messages of our bodies, we can turn a time of illness into a constructive time of restoration, healing, and revitalization.</p>
